What is Affirm™ and what does it treat?

How does it work?

How many treatments are required to achieve the desired results?
To achieve optimal results, we recommend 4-6 treatments, 3-4 weeks apart. We can treat wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, pigmented lesions and unwanted redness.
How fast is each treatment?
One treatment with the Affirm system takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

How does the Affirm work?
The Affirm gently treats the problem area with enhancing micro-pulses of light, which helps simultaneously stimulate and remodel the skin’s natural production of collagen, making the skin appear more youthful while helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The Affirm is specifically designed to diminish the effects of aging of the skin. The system also treats discoloration, a common condition associated with aging skin and over-exposure to the sun.
Can anyone have this treatment?
The best candidates for the Affirm treatments are any individuals who have wrinkle concerns, sun damage or redness. All skin types may be treated with the Affirm anti-aging laser.
Does it hurt?
When being treated with the Affirm, you may experience a slight prickly or light stinging sensation. Remember that everyone is different and what one person considers bothersome another may not mind at all. It all depends on individual sensitivity or tolerance to the stimulation. Most people tolerate the treatment just fine. Four out of five patients treated with the Affirm system do not request topical anesthesia.
Are there any side effects?
After the treatment, redness and some slight swelling may occur, typically lasting anywhere from 12 hours to 2 days. A tan or dusky appearance of the skin can also appear in some patients and may last for 2-3 weeks.

Part B: AFFIRM Xenon Pulsed Light (XPL)
How does it work?
Facial skin treatment works by directing a beam of light in the visible and near infrared range, from 515 nm up to about 1200 nm, to an irregularity in the skin, such as enlarged blood vessels or irregular chromophore. This removes the abnormality without scarring or damage, while stimulating collagen production to tighten the surrounding tissue, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.
How does this treatment differ from chemical peels and CO2 Lasers?
Unlike other treatments that remove an outer layer of skin and require significant healing time, laser treatment works by gently penetrating the skin to destroy the underlying vessels and pigment that are the cause of the problem. The outer skin itself is not damaged.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment causes only minimal discomfort and any initial soreness is easily alleviated with a cold air cooling system.
How many treatments are required?
Typically several sessions are required for full-face treatment or treatment of isolated body areas like the hands or chest. The average treatment takes about 5 – 20 minutes. Results may be seen after the first few treatments. The treatment can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of typical anesthetics or gel.

How long does recovery take?
You’ll be able to return to normal activities immediately, though sunscreen should be applied as a post-treatment precaution.
